{"id":272,"date":"2025-07-06T00:43:35","date_gmt":"2025-07-06T00:43:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/localhost\/dochome\/?p=272"},"modified":"2025-07-09T23:23:12","modified_gmt":"2025-07-09T23:23:12","slug":"sri-mandir-keeps-investors-hooked-as-digital-devotion-grows","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/examwala.org\/index.php\/2025\/07\/06\/sri-mandir-keeps-investors-hooked-as-digital-devotion-grows\/","title":{"rendered":"Sri Mandir keeps investors hooked as digital devotion grows"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.appsforbharat.com\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">AppsForBharat<\/a>, the Indian startup behind the Hindu devotional app&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.srimandir.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Sri Mandir<\/a>, has raised $20 million in a new round \u2014 just over nine months after&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2024\/09\/09\/sri-mandir-is-on-a-quest-to-digitize-indias-devotional-journey\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">securing $18 million<\/a>&nbsp;\u2014 as the app continues to attract not only devotees but also strong investor interest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Susquehanna Asia Venture Capital led the Series C round with participation from existing investors, including Indian billionaire and tech veteran Nandan Nilekani\u2019s Fundamentum Partnership, Elevation Capital, and Peak XV Partners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Religious devotion runs deep in India, where there are 53 temples for every 100,000 people. Nearly 2 million Hindu devotees perform prayers at home with local priests or at temples to seek peace and well-being. The Hindu temple economy is&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.freepressjournal.in\/analysis\/glitzy-dynamic-temple-economy-exposes-crores-40-bn-worth-of-money-put-at-stake-writes-shivaji-sarkar\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">worth \u20b93.02 trillion<\/a>&nbsp;(about $40 billion) or nearly 2.3% of India\u2019s GDP, per a survey by the Indian government\u2019s National Sample Survey Office. Despite this scale, services including prayers and offerings are largely offline, unorganized, and fragmented. AppsForBharat says it\u2019s solving these challenges with Sri Mandir.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Founded in November 2020, AppsForBharat introduced Sri Mandir shortly after to serve Hindu devotees with online prayers and the ability to make offerings virtually to Indian temples. The app has garnered over 40 million downloads since its launch. In the past 12 months, it has enabled 1.2 million devotees to perform online prayers and make offerings at more than 70 temples across India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Currently, Sri Mandir has around 3.5 million monthly active users, including about 90,000 from outside India. While the app\u2019s user base remains primarily domestic, its average revenue per user (ARPU) abroad is significantly higher \u2014 about \u20b97,000 (roughly $81), compared to \u20b9600\u2013800 ($7\u2013$9) in India.
